Oct. 23, 2024 – The North Central College women's soccer team scored an unanswered six goals against Illinois Wesleyan University to secure their fifth straight victory, as Elle Sutter set a new program career record for assists.

North Central (13-4, 5-1 CCIW) got the offense rolling early as Sarah Andrey broke away six minutes in to pass to Sutter for her first goal of the match. The Illinois Wesleyan (3-10-2, 1-4-1 CCIW) defense began to settle in only allowing four shot attempts over the next fourteen minutes.

Sutter soared ahead in the 21st minute for her twenty-eighth career assist to break her former teammate, Kaitlyn Cannon's record of twenty-seven. Andrey received the assist to push the Cardinals ahead 2-0 with twenty-four minutes remaining.

The Titans continued to feel the pressure as the Cardinal offense shot seven times to Illinois Wesleyan's two for the next fourteen minutes. With the first half only having just under seven minutes remaining, Sophia Hein and Emmi Doty broke free to assist Chandlar Lay to her second goal of the season. Illinois Wesleyan failed to respond with a single shooting attempt letting the score go 3-0 into halftime.

Entering the second half, Sutter shocked the Titan defense with her second goal after a pass from Madison DeVriendt just twenty seconds in. DeVriendt kept the energy high firing another goal a minute later with help from Brooke Nelson for a deafening 5-0 lead.

The Cardinals continued to maintain dominance firing off six shots over the duration of the half to Illinois Wesleyan's two. It wasn't until the 88th minute a gap would open on the Titan defense for freshman Carly Campbell to sneak her first career goal in for a game-ending 6-0 score.

In total, the Cardinals outshot the Titans twenty-four to five with a staggering thirteen shots on goal. On defense, Olivia Mattison tallied two saves over fifty-one minutes of action while Jordan Boyd returned for thirty-eight minutes for a solo save.
