Nov. 12, 2024 - For the second consecutive week, a member of the North Central College women's wrestling team has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday. Amani Jones received this honor for the third time in her career. 
 
Over the weekend, top-ranked Jones wrestled in the Adrian College Duals (Nov. 9) and the Adrian College Invite (Nov. 10) in the 123-pound weight class in Adrian, Mich. At the duals, Jones wrestled in the duals against No. 4 McKendree University and No. 1 King University. In her first match, Jones faced McKendree's fourth-ranked Shelby Moore. Jones defeated Moore in a nail-biting 6-5 decision. Later in the day, Jones met third-ranked Montana Delwader from King University in a dominating 10-0 technical fall.
 
After a night of recovery, Jones returned to competition the following day for the Invite. In the first round, Jones received a bye. Then, Jones took down Trinity Howard (unattached) with an 11-0 technical fall before defeating Aspen Blasko (Grand Valley State University) with a 5-2 decision in the semifinals. In the championship match, Jones defeated No. 3 Delwader for the second consecutive day, this time by a 4-0 decision. Jones finished the Invite in first place in the 124 class and recorded a perfect 5-0 record on the weekend.
 
Jones and her Cardinal teammates will be on the road Wednesday, Nov. 13, to compete against Augustana College at 6 p.m. in Rock Island, Ill.
