Nov. 6, 2024 - The North Central College women's wrestling team picked up their first team win of the season, dominating Carthage College in their home opener, 41-0. Additionally, four Cardinal wrestlers defeated their opponents by pins.

The Cardinals found themselves with an early 4-0 lead as
Maddie Avila, the No. 3-ranked wrestler in the 103-pound weight class, defeated Kirsten Cortez by a 12-0 technical fall. In the 110 class, No. 6
Kendra Ryan needed just 47 seconds to pin Rebecca Di Silvestro, adding five more points for the Cardinals. No. 2
Sydney Petzinger met No. 9 Natalie Majer on the mat for the 117-pound weight class. Petzinger defeated Majer with a commanding 10-4 technical fall. The 2024 123-pound national champion, No. 1
Amani Jones, showed off her skills with a pin in 46 seconds over Alaina Hollendoner, giving North Central an 18-0 lead.

In the 131-pound weight class,
Eliana White-Vega won by forfeit.
Emma Grimm (138) recorded the fastest pin on the night against Margaret Anders in just 35 seconds. Fifth-ranked
Bella Mir took down Jennifer Villagomez by a 10-0 technical fall in the 145-pound weight class.
Tiera Jimerson (160) picked up a pin as she defeated Izabelle Nelson-Carrillo in 38 seconds to put the Cardinals up 37-0. With no match in the 180 class,
Shenita Lawson (207) defeated Makenna Bovee in a swift 10-0 technical fall. North Central crushed Carthage College 41-0 at their home opener.

The third-ranked Cardinals are back in action Saturday, Nov. 9, when they travel to Adrian, Mich., to compete in the Adrian College Duals. Matches begin at 9 a.m. (ET) inside the Merillat Center on the campus of Adrian College.
