CCIW Press Release
Â
Feb. 20, 2024 – Two members of the North Central College men's volleyball team won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week Awards.
Jared Moser was named the CCIW Hitter of the Week, while
Tyler Donovan was named the CCIW Setter of the Week.
Â
Last week, North Central earned a 3-0 record at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, where they faced No. 9 Nazareth University, No. 19 Baldwin Wallace University, and Messiah University. Both athletes were a huge part of the Cardinals' three wins.
Â
Moser led the team with 42 kills, averaging 4.2 kills per set and a .307 hitting percentage. Moser also set many season high records in the Cardinals' three matches. Against Baldwin Wallace, he recorded season highs in kills (19), points (24), aces (3), and digs (13). Moser continued to hit more season highs against Nazareth and Messiah; he tallied two assists and three blocks.
Â
Moser led the CCIW in kills per set (4.20) and points per set (4.95). Additionally, Moser was No. 6 in hitting efficiency (.307).
Â
Donovan was another big part of the Cardinals' success. Donovan continues to lead the team in assists each match, racking up 88 assists and an average of 8.80 assists per set last week. He also ranked second in the CCIW in assists for his performance in the Cardinals' three matches.
Â
Donovan tallied three service aces at the Invitational, two against Messiah and one against Baldwin Wallace. He also recorded 21 digs and six blocks.
Â
Moser and Donovan are no strangers to this accolade. This is Moser's first award of the season but his fifth in his career. Donovan has earned the award three times this season and seven in his career.
Â
North Central is back in Gregory Arena at 7 pm Thursday, Feb. 22, when the Cardinals face off against North Park University for their first conference match of the 2024 season.
