AURORA, ILL. (Feb. 6, 2024) - The North Central College women's wrestling team continues to control the National Wrestling Coaches Association standings. This time the Cardinals defeated No. 7 Aurora University 35-9.

Aurora started off strong as
Amber Turner (101) fell to Genesis Ramerirez by a pin. The Cardinals quickly took control when
Angelina Graff (109) was up 6-0 against Camila Neuman. Not satisfied, Graff continued to work on the mat pinning Neuman (2:19).

In the 116-pound weight class,
Janessa George started off hot. Facing Sharon Moreno on the mat, George picked up four points early on with a takedown. George took control and gut wretched Moreno to pick up several more points. George defeated Moreno with a 12-0 technical fall.

Asia Nguyen-Smith (123) saw Mia Moore on the mat. Nguyen-Smith earned two points from a takedown followed by a leg lace to finish the match with a 10-0 technical fall win. In the 130-pound weight class,
Haley Vann accepted a win by forfeit for the Cardinals.

In the 136-pound weight class,
Niya Teresita Gaines only needed 35 seconds to pin Lillian Hernandez.
Taylor Graveman (143) racked up four two-point takedowns and put the match away by a four-point takedown. Graveman won the match with a 12-0 technical.

Tiera Jimerson (155) continued the success of her teammates as she took on Antonia Philips. Jimerson led 5-0 at the end of the period as a result of multiple takedowns. In the second period, Jimerson earned one more two-point takedown. Jimerson defeated Philips with a 12-0 technical fall.

In the 170-pound weight class,
Caitlyn Flaherty accepted another win by a forfeit for the Cardinals.
Caroline Ward finished off the dual in the 191-pound match against Sydney Manos. Ward picked up two-points off a takedown and held the momentum. In the last few minutes, Manos took the momentum and Ward fell to a pin (3:00)

North Central will have a two-week hiatus before hosting the NCWWC Regionals Feb. 25 inside Gregory Arena. Matches are set to begin at 10 am.
