PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (Mar. 13, 2024) - Finishing off their 2024 spring break trip to Florida, the North Central College baseball team fell to Ohio Wesleyan University 4-1 on Wednesday morning at the Snowbird Baseball Classic.

Nolan King singled to right field in the first inning and stole second to put himself in scoring position. Michael Davis put the first run on the board with an RBI single to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. The Battling Bishops evened the score in the bottom of the first inning.

Brian Duvall settled in on the mound and kept Ohio Wesleyan scoreless for the rest of his six-inning outing. North Central's offense was also held in check over the few innings as well.

In the bottom of the seventh, Ohio Wesleyan broke the tie by scoring three runs on five hits and a Cardinal error to take a 4-1 lead.

Jaedin Kotecki came in to pitch the bottom of the eighth following a North Central scoreless top half of the inning. After a walk and hit by pitch, Kotecki worked out of the jam, thanks to Davis throwing out a Battling Bishop runner on the base paths to end the inning.

Trey Roach and Dave Fitzpatrick singled in the ninth, but the Cardinals could not capitalize and ended the game with a 4-1 loss.

Davis, Fitzpatrick and Peyton Burgh recorded two hits each with Davis driving in King for their lone run of the game. Duvall struck out five in his six innings of work as Shepski suffered the loss. Joe Liss earned the win for Ohio Wesleyan.

The Cardinals leave Florida and head to Michigan for a three-game Invitational at Adrian College. North Central takes on the Bulldogs on Friday at 1 p.m. (ET) at Nicolay Field.
