KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Mar. 15, 2024) - Extending its current winning streak to five games, the North Central College softball team closed competition in THE Spring Games Friday with a 2-1 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College and a 2-0 win over Mount St. Joseph University (Ohio) at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex.

The Cardinals (12-2) opened the scoring against Wisconsin Lutheran (3-9) in the first inning, as Katie Del Re reached on an infield single and stole second base before scoring on Hailey Morsovillo's base hit.

The Warriors leveled the score at 1-1 on a sacrifice fly in the third before North Central plated what turned out to be the winning run in the fourth. Rachael Madsen led off with a single, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Kayla Crabtree and scored on Sarah Lynch's base hit up the middle.

Taylor Warren picked up the win (5-1), allowing just one hit and three walks in four innings while striking out three. Juliana Maude pitched the final three innings to earn a second save this season. Lynch went 2 for 3 at the plate.

Gracie Vlach led off the Cardinals' encounter with Mount St. Joseph (7-7) with an infield single and advanced on Del Re's sacrifice bunt before scoring on a wild pitch. North Central turned a leadoff single by Bailey Miller into the game's second run in the third inning, as Miller advanced on a Charlotte Toosley sacrifice bunt and scored on a single to center field by Del Re.

Maude pitched all seven innings to record a third complete-game shutout, striking out three and walking one while allowing five hits in improving to 5-0 this season.
