MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Apr. 6, 2024) – The North Central College men's lacrosse team sailed past the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders on the road, after an unanswered nine-goal run between the second and third periods finalizing the game, 12-4.
Tom Eberhardt notched his first goal of the day just under three minutes as
Rylan McQueary assisted him to North Centrals' (7-1) only score of the period. Milwaukee (5-4) sealed the next two goals in the period between Brooke Mclnerney and Andrew Toman to set the Raiders to their only lead of the game, 2-1.
Eberhardt again started the scoring for the Cardinals in the second period with a quick pace of 47 seconds to receive a setup from McQueary to tie the game. This sparked five unanswered goals throughout the period between McQueary,
Joey D'Cunha,
Kadin Melin, and
Dalton Lutz to launch the Cardinals ahead 7-2.
Entering the third period, North Central kept the pressure on as Milwaukee failed to keep Eberhardt away from the net in the first 65 seconds, finding his third goal of the match. The Raiders' defense settled back in keeping Eberhardt at bay until a penalty with 7:48 to go, gave him a man-up scoring opportunity from D'Cunha, setting the lead to seven.
Luke Paris found Eberhardt with under four minutes left to notch Eberhardt's fifth and final goal of the game marking his 170th career point snapping
Jack Moran's record of 169. Milwaukee found a rhythm a minute later with a quick secession of two goals from Soren Savard to set the score at 10-4 into the final period.
With a six-goal lead, the Cardinals elected to find two more insurance opportunities as
Luke Illgen snuck one in at 10:09 and McQueary helped
Charlie Snyder at 5:24 to seal up the scoring at 12-4. The North Central defense only allowed one more shot from Milwaukee in the final five minutes.
In total, Eberhardt led the way in goals tying his season best of five while McQueary followed with three assists and one goal. On the defensive side,
