2024 CSC Academic All-District List
May 14, 2024 - For the second straight season,
Nina Patience and
Kayla McSweeney represent the North Central College women's tennis team on the College Sports Communicator's Academic All-District list for their combined successes in the classroom and on the court.
Nominated by members of CSC, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Athletically, nominees must be in the lineup for 70% or more of the total matches played that include team scores.
Patience, a senior from Johannesburg, South Africa, posted a 15-5 singles record, playing primarily at the No. 5 position. In doubles action, she went 9-3, including a 5-0 record in the No. 2 spot. Patience graduated in May with degrees in computer science and ethical leadership.
McSweeney, a junior from Oak Lawn, Ill., tallied an 11-4 record in singles action, playing at No. 6 for most of the season. She recorded an 11-6 record in doubles play, with a 2-1 record in the top doubles spot. McSweeney is a secondary education major.
The two Cardinals teamed up on Sept. 13 to defeat Carly Edwards and Andie Wilson of Illinois Wesleyan University, 8-2. Patience and McSweeney are the only two women's tennis players in program history to have earned the distinction.
North Central set a program record for most wins in a season with 24. The Cardinals won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Regular Season Championship before winning the CCIW Tournament to earn the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season.
