2023-24 AVCA Team Academic Award List

July 17, 2024 - For the fifth straight season, the North Central College women's volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for their success in the classroom, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams with a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. The AVCA and INTENT sponsor the award as more than 1,400  collegiate and high school teams received the accolades. 

The Cardinals finished the 2023 season with an 18-10 overall record, the most wins since the 2015 season. North Central also posted an 11-4 record inside of Gregory Arena. Abbi Barickman, Maddi Barickman and Amber Vande Hei earned All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin honors.

Closing in on the 2024 season, the Cardinals open the regular season at the University of Chicago Tournament Friday, Aug. 30 by taking on Carleton College at 4 p.m inside the Ratner Athletics Center.
