2023-24 College Team Academic Award Winners

Aug. 1, 2024 - Succeeding on the pitch and in the classroom, the North Central College men's soccer team earned its fifth consecutive United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2023-24 school year.

A total of 411 soccer teams (171 men, 240 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2023-24 academic year. North Central is one of 105 schools with both their men's and women's programs recognized.

The Cardinals finished the 2023 campaign with a 15-3-2 overall record while winning the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin for the second straight season. North Central is currently riding an 18-match unbeaten streak in CCIW regular season play. The Cardinals also competed in the NCAA Tournament for a third straight season.

As a team, North Central set a new program record with 64 goals scored on the year. Five Cardinals earned All-CCIW honors with Aidan Westerberg, Jacopo De Collibus, Edoardo Bonifacio and Jack Fairwood claiming USC All-Region Accolades. Westerberg was also named a College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American selection, his third consecutive season being an Academic All-American.

North Central begins the 2024 season by hosting the 2023 NCAA Division III National Champions, St. Olaf College. That match is set for 7 p.m. inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
