CHICAGO, Ill. (Aug. 30, 2024) – The North Central College women's cross country team began their season by traveling to Chicago to take part in the North Park Invitational at Legion Park this Friday where they would place second in a field of three teams. 
 
The Cardinals would score 32 points in their second place finish, missing out on first by just two points as Aurora finished with 30. 
 
On the 5000 meter course, Julia Benes would lead the way for the Cardinals giving her team one point with a time of 19 minutes and 8 seconds. Segilola Smith-Pariola gave the Cardinals two points as she would cross the finish line next (19:57). Alayna Ruach would round out a very strong front three of Cardinals giving her team four points with a time of 20:33. 
 
Camdyn Lawson became the next Cardinal to finish (21:13) earning her team 12 points, with Natalie Nestler not far behind (21:19) to add another 13 points for the Cardinals totalling to the Cardinals' 32 points. 
 
North Central hosts the NCCXC Invitational at St. James Farm in Warrenville on Sep. 6. The race is set to start at 4 p.m.
