MILWAUKEE, WIS. (Sept. 13, 2024) - The North Central College men's soccer team faced off against Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) for the first time in 10 years Friday night. The Cardinals and the Raiders settled for a 1-1 tie at Viets Field.

The Raiders struck early in the first half when MSOE's Tanner Cellio connected with Nico Picha and opened up the scoring (2:45). Picha took another shot on goal a short time after, but Cardinal goalkeeper Trevor Share kept it out of the net. Next, it was North Central's turn for a shot on goal. Luis Aviles fired the ball to the lower right of the net. Unfortunately, the Raiders goalkeeper, Asher Harris, got a glove on the shot. Both teams continued to push their offense. In the 23rd-minute, the Cardinals capitalized on a shot from Jared Urueta, who was assisted by Aviles. The first half ended in a 1-1 tie.

Urueta tallied the first shot of the second half, but the shot was blocked on the way to the net (45:06). MSOE responded quickly with Danny Aranda taking a shot to the net, but Share was there to shut down the scoring chance once again (48:42). Aiden Maloney (68:41) and Eloi Nyibizi (77:36) recorded the last two shots on goal of the game. The Cardinals looked to secure a win with their offense controlling the ball but it wasn't enough as they left Viets Field with a 1-1 draw.

North Central and MSOE tied with 17 shots overall, while the Cardinals outshot the Raiders on net 8–7. Share recorded season highs, as well as career highs with the Cardinals, in shots faced (17) and saves (6).

The Cardinals are back in action Sunday, Sept. 15, as they take a trip up Chicago Avenue to Benedictine University. The action is set to start at 3 p.m. inside the Village of Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex.
