Sept. 13, 2024 – The North Central College women's soccer team earned their first shutout victory of the season against Greenville University, netting an unanswered three goals in the North Central Invitational.

Entering the match, North Central (5-2) got the offense in rhythm early as Jordan Lange forced a save out of Addison Miller just three minutes in. Greenville (0-4-1) failed to come up with a response only taking one shot off target before Lange fired another shot on goal in the 13th minute.

The Cardinal offense finally found a gap in the Panther defense three minutes later, as Sarah Andrey and Madelyn Camaioni assisted Elle Sutter to her first goal of the game. As the offenses continued to battle up and down the field, it would be Sutter again finding room after a pass from Brooke Nelson in the 25th minute, pushing the Cardinals ahead 2-0.

Greenville continued struggling to find a weakness in the Cardinal defense as only Kristie Kregel would shoot in the final twenty minutes of the period.

Coming out of halftime, North Central came firing out of the gates as Sutter took a shot under two minutes in. Lange kept the pressure on three minutes later forcing the first save of the period. Greenville found its first scoring opportunity in the 54th minute but, a determined Olivia Mattison fended off the attempt from Allyson Schulz.

The Cardinals kept the ball moving as they continued to hammer the Panther defense over the next eight minutes. Lange soon broke free with an assist from Sutter to push the lead 3-0 with twenty-eight minutes remaining.

As the clock winded down, Greenville found only one more shot on goal in the 70th minute from Dillyn Baer while North Central fired off another two from Holly Helmers.

In total, the Cardinal offense eclipsed the Panthers by a margin of twenty-one shots. At goal, Mattison secured two saves for her first shutout as a goalkeeper while Miller fought off ten goals.

The North Central Invitational continues tomorrow with the Cardinals celebrating seven seniors as they face the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Access the full schedule HERE.
