Sept. 16, 2024 - North Central College running back Joe Sacco has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW)'s first Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2024 season. The CCIW announced this week's selections Monday.
Sacco earned the distinction after helping lead the No. 1-ranked Cardinals to a season-opening 48-21 victory at then-No. 13-ranked Aurora University Saturday. Sacco rushed for 146 yards on 19 carries and scored North Central's first three touchdowns of the game, tying a collegiate career high. Sacco is one of only two CCIW players to rush for more than 100 yards in this season's opener and the only one to reach the end zone three times.
A First Team All-CCIW selection and All-America honoree by the Associated Press and D3football.com in 2023, Sacco ranks sixth in North Central's history in rushing yards (2,904) while ranking eighth in all-purpose yards (3,384) and ninth in rushing touchdowns (31).
