Sept. 16, 2024 - For the second time already this season, North Central College women's volleyball setter
Maddi Barickman has earned the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Setter of the Week award due to her performance in the Cardinals' 3-1 weekend in Iowa, which included a Top 25 win over No. 21 Cornell College.
Barickman tallied a career-high 58 assists and seven digs against Coe College while notching season-bests with 16 digs and eight kills against Augsburg University. In total, she racked up 187 assists over the four matches with 16 service aces and 54 digs. Her 11.00 assists per set ranked first in the CCIW this week while her 0.94 aces per set ranked fourth.
The Cardinals swept Simpson College before knocking off No. 21 Cornell, 3-1 on Friday at the Cornell Classic. Barickman and teammate Bailey Houlihan were named to the All-Tournament team for their performances. On Saturday, North Central fell 3-2 to the host Kohawks before beating Augsburg University in five sets in the nightcap.
This marks Barickman's sixth weekly conference honor, making her the new program leader for most CCIW Player of the Week awards in North Central women's volleyball history. Stephanie Ryding '10 and Ryan Lally '12 each notched five weekly CCIW awards in their respective careers
Barickman and the Cardinals make their long-awaited home opener Friday by taking on Saint Mary's College (Ind.) on the opening day of the North Central Invitational. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. inside Gregory Arena.
