WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 21, 2024)- Getting their first action in 15 days, the North Central College women's cross country team traveled back to St. James Farm for the Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College. The Cardinals would place ninth of 19 teams. 

The Cardinals scored 211 points in their ninth-place finish while trailing CCIW foes Elmhurst University, who finished eighth with 202 points, seventh-place Carroll University, who scored 201, Carthage College, who finished sixth with 194 points, Illinois Wesleyan University in fourth with 135 points, and Wheaton College, who placed second with 95 points. The first-place school was No. 16 national-ranked DePauw University. 

Julia Benes led the way for the Cardinals, as she finished 12th overall among 220 competitors. Benes finished with a time of 23 minutes and 22 seconds. Lily Anderson (23:52) crossed the finish line next for the Cardinals as she placed 23rd overall. Paige Runkle (25:04) was the third Cardinal to finish the race, 54th overall. 

Brianna Ruiz (25:25) would follow shortly after Runkle placed 67th, and Marissa Magana (25:31) would round out the top five Cardinals with a placing of 72nd overall.

Olivia Parmelee (25:44) and Alayna Ruach (25:54) finished sixth and seventh for the Cards. Parmelee finished 83rd overall, and Ruach placed 93rd. 

The Cardinals top five splits in this meet were two minutes and nine seconds, and the top seven splits were two minutes and 31 seconds. 

The Cardinals return to action Saturday, Sept. 28 as they travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin, for the Lucian Rosa Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The race is set to begin at 10 a.m. Click HERE for the full schedule.
