DECATUR, Ill. (Sept. 24, 2024) - Earning their 50th straight win over College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) competition, the North Central College women's tennis team claimed their third 7-0 victory of the young season.

Abigail Penados and Kensington Payne cruised to a 6-0 victory at the top spot while Anastasia Bozovic and Kayla McSweeney rolled to a 6-1 win at the No. 2 position to capture the doubles point. Priya Harris and Ainara Casado Cedillo won via forfeit at No. 3 doubles.

The Cardinals started singles action ahead 3-0 as Casado Cedillo and Liveta Ezerskis won by forfeit at No 5 and 6. Kate Herlihy earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 before Payne swept Cristina Borunda 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Completing the team sweep, Harris used a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 with Penados winning 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to claim the 7-0 win for North Central.

A select group of Cardinals will head to Kalamazoo, Mich. this weekend to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Central Region Championships. The three-day event begins Friday, Sept. 27 at Markin Tennis Center.
