KENOSHA, WIs. (Sept. 28, 2024)- The North Central College women's cross country team traveled up to Kenosha, Wisconsin, for the Lucian Rosa Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where they placed sixth of 10 teams.
The Cardinals scored 169 points to place sixth. Winona State University secured first place with 35 points, Hillsdale College placed second with 62 points, and the host University of Wisconsin-Parkside and Northern Michigan University both scored 72 points, with the tiebreaker going to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside to get third. Northern Michigan University was given fourth. In fifth place, CCIW foe Wheaton College scored 135 points.
Julia Benes finished the race first for the Cardinals, placing 11th overall of 108 competitors. Benes clocked in a time of 22 minutes and 57.7 seconds. Lily Anderson placed 30th overall as the next Cardinal to cross the finish line. Her time was 24 minutes and 12.7 seconds. Segilola Smith-Pariola, making her return to the track, placed 48th overall with a time of 24:24.4.
Natalie Nestler (25:11.4) placed 65th overall, with Olivia Parmelee (25:27.3) placing 70th to round out the top 5 for the Cardinals.
Emma Cecich (25:27.7) placed 71st overall, making her best time of the season on a 6K course. Brianna Ruiz (25:29.9) rounded out the top 7 for the Cardinals, placing 72nd overall, finishing two seconds after Cecich.
The first to fifth split for the Cardinals was two minutes and 29.6 seconds. The first to seventh split for the Cardinals was two minutes and 32.2 seconds.
The Cardinals have a break in action before returning to the course Friday, Oct. 18 for the Pink Classic, hosted by Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. The race is set to begin at 2:15 p.m. Click HERE for the full schedule.
