WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 6, 2024)- Taking a trip to St. James Farm for the NCCXC Invitational, the North Central College women's cross country team placed fourth out of five teams, with Julia Benes dominating the field of 62 competitors. 

The Cardinals earned 86 points in their fourth place finish. UW-Whitewater placed first with 47 points, Wheaton second with 57 and Millikin third totaling 84 points. 

Benes finished the 6K race first of all competitors with a time of 22 minutes and 58 seconds. Her final time was nearly 33 seconds ahead of second place competitor Brooklynn Sweikar of Millikin. 

Alayna Ruach finished second for the Cardinals, 20th overall, with a time of 24:57 earning North Central 18 points. Brianna Ruiz (25:09) would follow shortly after, placing 23rd and adding 21 points for her squad. 

Natalie Nestler (25:17) was the fourth Cardinal to finish tacking on another 22 points and placing 27th. Marissa Magana (25:23) crossed the finish line fifth for the Cardinals and was the final competitor to earn points for her team with 24. 

Paige Runkle (25:30) and Camdyn Lawson (25:42) finished 6th and 7th for the Cardinals and placed 30th and 34th among the field. 

The North Central College women's cross country team is back in action Sept. 21 for the Gil Dodds Invitational at St. James Farm.
