(Jan. 30, 2025)- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2024 NCAA Division III All-Academic Teams on Thursday. The North Central College men's cross country team and six individuals have been awarded All-Academic honors. This is the 12th consecutive year the team has earned the distinction for excellence in the classroom and athletically. 

As a team, the Cardinals earned a cumulative 3.36 grade-point average during the fall semester. The threshold for the award is to achieve at least a team cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a scale of 4.0. Other members of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) to earn the honors include Augustana College, Carthage College, Illinois Wesleyan University, Millikin University, North Park University and Wheaton College. 

To earn individual All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a scale of 4.0 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. 
Emerald Svienty and Matt Jett stood out for the Cardinals this season, making the All-Academic Team as well as earning All-American honors. Svienty placed 10th in the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship, held in Terre Haute, Indiana and Jett placed 32nd.

Joining Svienty and Jett on the All-Academic team for the Cardinals are Luke Hoffmann, Clark Kelly, Jacob Kluckhohn and BJ Sorg. 

North Central capped off a historic 2024 season, which saw them win their 50th consecutive CCIW title, with a 51st consecutive national championship appearance where they finished in seventh place.
