Press Release
(Oct. 14, 2025)- For the first time in program history, a member of the North Central College men's soccer team has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week in back-to-back weeks, as
Joseph Sargent was named for a second time after a three-goal week. The conference announced the players of the week Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Sargent scored two goals on Oct. 8 against Augustana College to preserve a 2-2 match to earn North Central a point. Sargent's first goal came when he beat the Augustana defense one-on-four and played the ball past the goalkeeper. Sargent's equalizing goal came in the second half as he received the ball off a blocked shot and fired to the open net. The third goal of the week for Sargent came in a 3-1 victory over Elmhurst University on Oct. 11 when he got the Cardinals on the board first. Sargent received the ball in front of the net in the 6-yard box and tapped it in with his left foot.
Sargent leads the conference in goals scored against other conference opponents with five in three games played, while tallying 11 for the season overall. He is also the first student-athlete in the men's soccer program to be named CCIW Player of the Week on either side of the ball in back-to-back weeks since 2019.
The Cardinals return to action for a midweek CCIW clash with the Millikin Big Blue in Decatur, Ill., on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Kickoff from Frank M. Lindsay Field is set for 7:30 p.m.
