Oct. 6, 2025 - For the second straight week, a member of the North Central College football team has been honored by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin as defensive end
Bobby Medina has earned the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week honor in the Cardinals' 35-0 shutout victory over Wheaton College.
Medina led a defensive charge that saw the Cardinals not allow a point to Wheaton for the first time since 1964 in the storied rivalry. He led the team with three sacks on the night, adding to his five total tackles. In total, the North Central defense held Wheaton to -2 rushing yards, the least in the rivalry and sixth-fewest in program history.
His three sacks are the most by a single player in a CCIW game this season and are tied for the third most by a Cardinal in a game in school history. It is tied for the 10th most in a Division III game this season as well.
The Cardinals return to Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium for another night game, this time hosting Millikin University (2-2, 1-2 CCIW). Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. North Central has won each of the past 19 games over the Big Blue.
