NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Nov. 25, 2025) – North Central College women's wrestler Shenita Lawson was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week after securing a ranked upset win in the Cardinals' dual against Grand Valley State University. The league office announced its wrestler of the week Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 25.
 
Lawson picks up the honor for the first time in her career and marks the second weekly award for North Central this season, following Riley Rayome's selection back on Nov. 4.
 
The fourth-ranked Cardinals battled the No. 3 Lakers Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23, and despite taking the narrow 23-21 loss, it was Lawson in the 180-pound bout for the Cardinal highlight. Lawson, who ranks fourth in the weight class, battled against No. 2-ranked Sabrina Nauss for the 9-7 decision win.
 
North Central is set to host Augustana College for its first home dual of the season on Wednesday, Nov. 26, inside Gregory Arena. The CCIW dual is set for a 1 p.m. start with the men's match to follow. The Cardinal wrestling programs will honor the late North Central men's cross country coach Al Carius and the cross country program by donning custom candy-striped singlets.
