Women’s Wresting Defeats Augustana 44-2 at Al Carius Tribute Dual

Nov. 26, 2025 - The North Central College women's wrestling team honored the late Coach Al Carius and the North Central men's cross country team with a dominant 44-2 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) win over Augustana College (1-1, 1-1 CCIW) Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 26. The Cardinals (6-2, 3-0 CCIW) wore candy-striped singlets, the signature pattern of the cross country program, at the Al Carius Tribute dual. 

Madison Avila opened the meet at 103-pounds with a 10-0 technical fall win over Mia Vasquez to put four points on the board for North Central. The Cardinals followed it up with back-to-back pins to gain a 14-0 advantage. Amaya Yoshizumi pinned Jo Orozco in under a minute (0:55) at 110-pounds with Mikayla Garcia (117) taking down Gwen Burbridge by way of a pin at the 1:15 mark. 

In the 124-weight class, Bella Bolek secured the win with an 11-0 technical fall against Hannah Suboni-Kaufman with Jax Realin following suit at 131-pounds with a 10-0 technical fall over Moni Griffin.

At 138-pounds, Taylor Miess pinned Gia Ritter at the 1:45 mark, to tack on five more points to the team score as North Central took up a 27-0 lead. 

Lynn Horn faced seventh-ranked Aine Moffit in the 145-pound bout. Horn climbed to a 6-0 lead after the first round before outlasting Moffit in a 6-4 win by decision.

At 160-pounds, Sydney Perry took on Maryam Ndiaye, moving to a substantial 11-2 lead at the conclusion of the first round. Shortly into the second round, Perry added two more match points to claim the 13-2 technical fall win.

In the final contested match of the dual, Lizzie Raleigh used just 1:32 of the clock to pin Jaiden Moody at 180-pounds. Caroline Ward was awarded the win by forfeit in the 207 bout to solidify the Cardinals 44-2 win. 

North Central heads to Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday, Dec. 7 for the Carthage Classic.
