Feb. 6, 2025 - The second-ranked North Central College women's wrestling team destroyed No. 12 Aurora University 38-7Â on senior night in Gregory Arena.
Sydney Petzinger and
Sydney Perry both recorded pins on the night.

After honoring 17 Cardinal wrestlers, No. 3
Maddie Avila, of the 103-pound weight class, took the mat to face off against Genesis Ramirez. Avila edged out Ramirez with a nail-biting 3-2 decision. In the 110 class,
Leeana Mercado picked up four points for the Cardinals with a 12-2 decision over Mia Moore.

Wrestling up a weight class (117),
Kendra Ryan worked fast to earn a dominating 10-0 technical fall against Sharon Moreno. Also wrestling up a class was Petzinger, who pinned Bethany Regione in three minutes and 37 seconds in the 124 division. The Cardinals were up 15-2.

The Cardinals dropped the 131 bout to a technical fall but stole the momentum from the Spartans right after.
Emma Grimm (138) defeated Olga Turiy with a 10-0 technical fall before Perry (145) pinned Makayla Howard (1:12). With just three bouts left, North Central led 25-7.

Tiera Jimerson (160) and
Shenita Lawson (180) picked up technical falls in their respective weight classes. Jimerson defeated Antonia Phillip 10-0, and Lawson took down Mackenzie Konanz 12-1.
Sadie Hill sealed the deal in the 207-weight class by accepting a win by forfeit. North Central won the dual 38-8.Â

The Cardinals will be back on the mat this weekend, Feb. 8 and 9, for the D3 Quad Cities Invite hosted by Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. Saturday bouts will begin at 2 p.m., and Sunday bouts will start at 11 a.m.
