CHICAGO (Mar. 1, 2025)Â - Overwhelming its opposition from the outset, the North Central College women's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 this season Saturday, enjoying a 19-1 victory over Illinois Institute of Technology at Stuart Field.
The Cardinals outshot the hosts, 40-11, put their stamp on the contest with six unanswered goals in the first quarter, and kept IIT scoreless until just seven seconds remained on the clock. North Central dominated possession thanks in part to a 17-3 advantage in draw controls.
Abby MacKenzie collected 16 of the Cardinals' draw controls to eclipse the single-game program record of 15 MacKenzie achieved twice in 2024.
Zoe Palm scored three of North Central's first four goals and finished with a team-high five tallies. MacKenzie totaled four goals and also led the Cardinals with 10 ground balls, while
Rachel Lawrence scored three goals and
Anna Williamson finished with two goals and three assists. Starting goalkeeper
Alyssa Rose did not face a shot on goal in the first half, while
Oran Wilkins saved three shots in the second half.Â
North Central is idle until it hosts the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (0-1) Saturday, with a scheduled start time of 10:00 a.m. at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Click
