Mar. 1, 2025 - Facing a ranked opponent for the second straight match, the North Central College women's tennis team fell behind early in a 5-2 loss to No. 35 Hope College Saturday night inside Naperville Tennis Club.

The Flying Dutch started the match on a strong note, winning No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to earn a 1-0 lead into singles action. Ainara Casado Cedillo and Meghan McSweeney battled to a 6-4 victory at the No. 3 fixture.

In singles, Abigail Penados rolled to a 6-4, 6-2 win over Amanda Lopykinski at the top spot to claim the first points of the day for North Central. Liveta Ezerskis overcame an opening set loss to Miyako Coffey to earn a 3-6, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 win at the No. 4 position. The visitors claimed wins in the remaining singles competitions to earn the 5-2 victory.

The Cardinals head to Orlando, Fla. for spring break. While down south, the North Central takes on four teams in three days, beginning with Christopher Newport University at 3:30 p.m. (ET) Saturday, Mar. 8.
