Women’s Lacrosse Runs Past Spalding, 18-4

Mar. 19, 2025 - Scoring 13 goals in the first half, the North Central College women's lacrosse team rolled past Spalding University, 18-4, on a rainy Wednesday afternoon inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

Abby MacKenzie won the opening draw control for the Cardinals as Rachel Lawrence scored her fifth goal of the season, just over a minute into the game. Twenty-four seconds later, MacKenzie found the back of the net to give North Central a 2-0 lead. Annelise Oster scored back-to-back goals before Lucy Culig and Lawrence added goals to extend the Cardinal advantage to six with five minutes left in the opening period. Oster and MacKenzie each tacked on goals to push the lead to 8-0 after 15 minutes of play.

Culig and Lawrence scored within 33 seconds of each other to give North Central a 10-goal advantage. Williamson found the back of the net for the fourth time this season before Zoe Palm turned a Golden Eagle turnover into a goal with 8:47 left to play in the first half. With 10 seconds left, Ellie Gosselin scored after Julia Gosk forced a Spalding turnover to put the Cardinals on top, 13-0 at the break. 

North Central kept their foot on the gas in the third quarter, scoring 17 seconds into the period thanks to a Taylor Smith goal. Pushing the lead to 15, Williamson scored her second goal of the game with 10:34 left in the third quarter. The Golden Eagles broke their scoreless day with back-to-back goals before Oster scored a free position goal with 19 seconds left in the quarter.

After Spalding tacked on a goal Gosselin and Culig scored in the fourth quarter as the Cardinals secured an 18-4 win over Spalding in their first-ever matchup. Oster led all players with four goals while Culig and Lawrence added three goals each.

MacKenzie racked up 12 draw controls on the day. In goal, Alyssa Rose earned the win with one save and no goals allowed in 30 minutes. Oran Wilkins made three saves in her 30 minutes of action, allowing four goals.


The Cardinals continue non-conference play as they welcome Whitworth University to campus for a 2 p.m. start inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Thai is the first-ever matchup between the programs.
