WAUKESHA, Wis. (Mar. 28, 2025) - Opening the 2025 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin slate, the North Central College men's tennis team swept doubles and won the first three singles matches to claim a 5-2 victory over Carroll Friday afternoon at Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex.

Ignacio Hernandez Ruiz and Justin Penados rolled to a 6-1 victory over David Eman and Ryan LaBelle at No. 3 doubles. Ramon Vilarroig Martinez and Matthew Sengphommachanh claimed a 6-3 win at No. 1 before Rafael Lessa and Philipp Wottgen finished off the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win at the No. 2 fixture.

Sengphommachahn picked up the first win in singles play with Vilarroig Martinez beating Adrian Gomez 6-1, 6-1 to put the Cardinals one point away from a victory. Clinching the match win was Henry Ros with his own 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6. Lessa earned a 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 to secure the 5-2 victory.

North Central stays in Wisconsin for a rematch of last year's conference championship as they face Carthage on Saturday at Life Sport Athletic Club in Racine at 4:45 p.m.
