ORLANDO, Fla. (Mar. 8, 2025) - Bouncing back from two losses yesterday, the North Central College women's tennis team rolled past Oglethorpe University 7-0 before beating their first ranked opponent of the season in a tight 4-3 win over No. 39 Haverford College.
Abigail Penados and Liveta Ezerskis picked up a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles before Natalie Bassett and Kensington Payne won 6-0 as well at the No. 1 fixture. Finishing off the sweep, Meghan McSweeney and Sophia Drozd swept Apsana Rai and Abigail Hudson at No. 3. Penados, Payne, Ezerskis, Kate Herlihy and McSweeney all won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1-5 with Anais Gerard winning 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 position to secure the 7-0 victory.
Keeping the momentum going in the second match of the day, Penados/Bassett teamed up at No. 1 doubles to earn a 6-2 win over Lucy Kind and Rachael Fitzgerald. Cardinal duos of Payne/Ezerskis (No. 2) and McSweeney/Herlihy (No. 3) also rolled to wins to secure the doubles sweep.
Penados took care of business at the top spot with a 6-2, 6-0 win before McSweeney won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6. Clinching the victory was Bassett with a 6-2, 1-6, 10-4 win at No. 2. The Fords claimed wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 4 following the clinch.
North Central concludes its spring break trip with a match against Franklin and Marshall College Monday at 11:30 a.m. (ET) at Sanlando Park.
