Apr. 11, 2025 – Winning their fifth straight game and moving to .500 on the year, the North Central College baseball team cruised past Benedictine University, 11-0, Friday afternoon at Zimmerman Stadium. Starter Tyler Pritchard kept the Eagles in check, allowing just three hits, while the Cardinal offense racked up 11 runs on 13 hits.

Pritchard struck the first two batters of the game out on the way to a 1-2-3 top of the first. Peyton Burgh led off the bottom half of the inning with a single to left field. After a stolen base and an Eagles error, Burgh scored on a wild pitch to put North Central on top, 1-0.

In the third, Burgh again began an inning with a leadoff single. He stole his second base of the game and scored on a John Michael Scumaci RBI single through the left side. Pritchard set Benedictine down in order in the top of the fourth to keep the score at 2-1.

Caleb Coberley and Parker Wyatt each reached on infield singles. Justin Lang delivered a two-run triple to right center field. Following an Eagles pitching change, Austin Weinke plated Lang on an RBI single to give the Cardinals a 5-0 advantage.

North Central added another insurance run in the bottom of the fifth as Wyatt doubled down the left field line to score Coberley from first base.

Burgh and Bland each used bunt singles to reach base safely. Scumaci took advantage of an Eagles throwing error, as Burgh crossed home plate for the third time. Weinke drove in Bland on a fielder's choice. Henry Saul and Coberley loaded the bases for Andre Medina, who drew a walk to plate Weinke. Lang beat out an infield single to put North Central up 10-0. Scoring their fifth run of the inning, Coberley scored on a wild pitch to extend the Cardinals' lead to 11.

Ben Muhich entered the game in the seventh. He worked around two singles to keep Benedictine scoreless and secure an 11-0 victory for North Central.

Lang drove in three runs, with Burgh scoring three times. In total, the Cardinals racked up 11 runs on 13 hits and five walks. Pritchard earned his second win of the season, throwing six innings and allowing three hits on the day.

North Central returns to Zimmerman Stadium Saturday for a vital conference doubleheader against Millikin Univeristy. First pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m.
