BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Apr. 23, 2025)- In the final stretch of College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play, the North Central College softball team dropped both games against the Illinois Wesleyan Titans at Inspiration Field on Wednesday. The Cardinals lost game one, 7-2, and lost game two, 8-0, in six innings.

The Titans jumped ahead in the first inning with an RBI groundout to take the 1-0 lead and added two more in the following inning with an infield single and swiping home plate. The Cardinals cut the Titan lead to one, making it a 3-2 ballgame after a two-RBI single by Hailey Morsovillo, who drove Gracie Vlach and Talia Torosian home. Illinois Wesleyan ensured the victory, tacking on four more runs, including one in the third and three in the fourth, for the 7-2 final score.

Sam Schilf took the loss in game one, pitching five innings, giving up 11 hits, and surrendering seven runs while striking out two and walking two. The Cardinals scratched across two runs on five total hits.

The Titans took the lead in the second inning with an RBI infield single to make it a 1-0 game. Illinois Wesleyan added two more in the third inning with a two-run home run by Claire Post to take a 3-0 lead and added a fourth run in the fourth inning. The Titans' offense exploded in the top of the sixth, putting up a four-spot and taking an 8-0 lead. A Jen Kuhn two-RBI single and an Ava Khoury two-run home run put the game out of reach.

Juliana Maude got the start in game two and received the loss, pitching five innings, allowing seven hits and four runs, while walking three and striking out two. North Central had just three hits and one walk in the 8-0 loss.

North Central (16-18, 5-9 CCIW) will wrap up CCIW regular season play Thursday, April 24th, against the Wheaton College Thunder (17-18, 4-8 CCIW) at Ruth Leedy Field in Wheaton, Ill. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
