Apr. 27, 2025 – Scoring the game's final seven runs, the North Central College baseball team completed the season sweep of Carroll University in a 7-3 victory on Sunday afternoon at Zimmerman Stadium, extending the Cardinals' winning streak to six.

Andrew Bollman kept the Pioneers off of the scoreboard in the first and second innings of play. Carroll scored an unearned run in the top of the third before tacking on two more in the fourth, thanks to three straight hits to take a 3-0 lead.

North Central responded as Jackson Bland led off the bottom of the fourth with a double to right field. He moved to third on a Parker Wyatt single and scored on an RBI single from Austin Wienke to bring the Cardinals within two, 3-1.

Jaedin Kotecki relieved Bollman in the fifth and did not allow a hit for the rest of his outing. Caleb Coberley doubled to begin the bottom of the seventh. Peyton Burgh drove in Coberley from second base. Justin Lang tied the game, plating Burgh on an RBI single. Putting the Cardinals in front, Bland used a sacrifice fly to score Lang from third.

Elijah Hammond entered the game in the top of the eighth and posted a 1-2-3 inning. Coberley singled with two outs in the bottom half of the frame before Burgh and Andre Medina walked to load the bases. Lang singled through the right side, scoring two as Medina came across to score on a Pioneer throwing error to give the Cardinals a 7-3 lead.

Hammond did not allow a hit in the ninth to earn the save and secure a 7-3 win for North Central. Lang drove in three runs while Burgh and Coberley each scored twice. Kotecki earned his first win of the season, not allowing a hit in three innings of work. Bollman tossed four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) with four strikeouts. Hammond tallied three strikeouts in his two innings of work.

North Central hosts league-leading Carthage College Wednesday night, looking to win the season series. The Cardinals beat the Firebirds 11-5 in Kenosha earlier this season. This game is set for 5 p.m. at Zimmerman Stadium.
