CHICAGO (Apr. 6, 2025) Taking a break from College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin play, the North Central College baseball team scored 11 runs over two innings to earn a 12-6 victory over the Illinois Institute of Technology to sweep the season series on Sunday afternoon at Ed Glancy Field.

John Michael Scumaci doubled in the top of the first inning to become the Cardinals' first baserunner. Austin Wienke plated Scumaci on an RBI single to put North Central ahead 1-0. A solo shot from the Scarlet Hawks evened the score at 1-1 before a double steal gave the hosts a 2-1 edge after one inning.

Justin Lang, Jackson Bland and Sucmaci all reached to load the bases for Weinke, who knotted the contest at 2-2 with a sacrifice fly. Henry Saul drove in Bland and Scumaci to double up IIT. A single from Parker Wyatt and an IIT error off the bat of Andre Medina added two additional runs to give North Central a 6-2 lead. The Scarlet Hawks tacked on an unearned run in the bottom of the second inning.

With runners on second and third, Wienke scored Bland and Peyton Burgh. Matthew Falzone and Caleb Coberley joined the base paths for Wyatt who launched a grand slam over the outfield fence to put the Cardinals up by nine, 12-3.
