MILWAUKEE (Sept. 6, 2025)- After an undefeated day one of the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raider Invite, which saw the North Central College women's volleyball team not lose a set, they continued their momentum into the next day, sweeping both Maranatha Baptist University and the Milwaukee School of Engineering 3-0. The Maranatha Baptist Bearcats (0-4) fell in set scores of 25-7, 25-8 and 25-11 and the host MSOE Raiders (1-4) fell in set scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-19 inside the Kern Center.

North Central (5-2) began day two with a 3-0 sweep of Maranatha Baptist in dominant fashion. It was all Cardinals in the first set, jumping out to an 8-1 lead with kills from Abranet Layne, Lauren Benson, Ava Hoff and Emma Schaumburg. Demi Caprio also added back-to-back service aces in the scoring rally.

Maranatha Baptist answered with a kill and a service ace to make it 8-3 before the Cardinals went on a 15-3 rally to all but put away the first set with a 23-6 lead. Alongside Hoff, Benson and Schaumburg, Ashlyn Lomax picked up a pair of kills, with Maddie Mae Holldorf and Leah Frystack recording aces. The Cardinals took the first set 25-7.

The Cardinals trailed in set two, 3-1, and answered with a 16-1 rally to take a commanding 17-4 lead. Sarah Lezon started the run with two kills, Layla Damotte continued the rally of kills for the Cardinals, with Jordan Surber following right after.

Maranatha Baptist attempted to go on a rally, cutting the deficit to 17-6, but were denied by the Cardinals, who went on to score seven unanswered as they put the second set away by a score of 25-8.
Set three was the closest Maranatha Baptist got in a set. After falling down 4-0, Maranatha Baptist tied the set at 4-4. Both teams traded points, making it 8-8 before the Cardinals went on a run.
Schaumburg began the rally with a kill and got some help from Maranatha Baptist with two attack errors. Lomax added another score before a service error put Maranatha Baptist back on the board.

The Cardinals took the momentum back with kills by Lomax and Layne to take a 14-9 lead. North Central completed the sweep of Maranatha Baptist, scoring the final nine points of the match for the final score of 25-11 in set three.

Hoff led the Cardinals in kills with 10 and in aces with four in match one. Kylie Hanson collected a career-high 27 assists in the match, while Caprio collected 19 digs, also a career-high. The Cardinals earned a .319 hit percentage compared to Maranatha Baptist's -.180.

The Cardinals battled back and forth with the Raiders to exit the invite unscathed, as the first set saw neither team gain the upper hand. Highlighted by two kills from Danni Moser, the Cardinals jumped out to a 5-1 lead in set one. The Raiders brought it back to 5-3, and North Central tacked on two more for a 7-3 lead. MSOE kept the deficit within four points as both teams rallied.

A North Central run widened the lead to 15-7 as kills from Benson and Lezon bookended Raiders' attack errors. The Raiders had a response, scoring four in a row to bring the score to 16-11. The Cardinals put the set away with an Aleesa Zebold ace and kills from Buban, Benson and Layne for the final set score of 25-16.

A Lezon kill in set two gave the Cardinals a 4-1 lead before the Raiders went on a rally, taking the 6-4 advantage. North Central retook the lead 7-6 with an ace by Katie Godo and a pair of Benson kills. The Raiders weathered the storm, leading the Cardinals 11-10, punctuated by an ace, before North Central rattled off four unanswered scores to take the 14-11 lead, thanks to two Sarah Harvey aces.
MSOE continued to battle in set two as both teams went back and forth. The Cardinals led 20-18 after a Raiders ace, and North Central took the set, scoring five of the final six points, with Benson scoring the final two Cardinal kills to take set two 25-19.

The Cardinals trailed in set three 2-0 before taking a 3-2 lead with Harvey connecting with Lezon and Layne for kills and a Moser ace. The Raiders and Cardinals traded points throughout the third set with no team trailing by more than four until the later stages of the set. North Central pulled ahead 11-7 with service and attack errors, but MSOE answered to bring the score to 13-12 in favor of the Cardinals.

North Central gained the edge with the score at 18-16 when the Cardinals scored four straight to take a 22-16 lead thanks to two Moser kills and two attack errors. The lead proved to be enough as the Cardinals put away the third set 25-19 to complete their fourth consecutive sweep of the invite.

Benson led the Cardinals in kills in the second match with 13, while Moser had two aces and a block. Harvey recorded 36 assists in the match, with Godo contributing 14 digs. The Cardinals recorded a .268 hit percentage compared to the Raiders' .092.

North Central returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 9, for their home opener as they host the Aurora University Spartans (5-1) with a match time set for 7 p.m. inside Gregory Arena.
