NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Jan. 14, 2026) – North Central College women's wrestling senior
Dasia Yearby has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week after her clutch performance helped the Cardinals to their first-ever National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals title in program history.
This marks Yearby's first CCIW weekly accolade of her career and is the program's third this season. Freshman
Riley Rayome won the first installment of the season on Nov. 4, and senior
Shenita Lawson picked up the honor on Nov. 25.
Yearby competed in two of four duals over the weekend, the first being a 10-0 technical fall at 207 pounds to close out a 42-2 win over Quincy University, but it was her effort in the semifinals against top-ranked University of Iowa that impressed.
Trailing by three heading into the final match, Yearby faced four-time national finalist and No. 2-ranked Jaycee Foeller in the final bout of the dual. Yearby utilized a left-handed headlock to set up the match-winning pin at 1:38, securing the 23-21 team victory.
Yearby's clutch performance helped North Central pull off arguably the biggest upset win in women's wrestling history as the No. 3-ranked Cardinals defeated No. 1 Iowa. The Cardinals handed Iowa its first dual loss in program history, snapping a 42-match winning streak. North Central went on to beat No. 2 McKendree University 21-18 in the finals for its first National Duals win.
North Central is set to compete in a pair of duals Thursday, Jan. 15. The Cardinals' top squad heads to Marietta, Georgia, to face Life University in FloWrestling's Night in America feature. Another group of Cardinals will host Elmhurst University in a CCIW dual at 6 p.m. inside Gregory Arena.
