North Central Claims Elmhurst Invitational Behind Seven Individual Wins

ELMHURST, Ill. (Jan. 18, 2026) – After facing the Elmhurst University Bluejays in a dual earlier in the week, the North Central College women's wrestling team claimed the team win at the Elmhurst Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 18, backed by seven wrestlers taking first in their respective weight classes and 20 total pins.
 
North Central was the top team in the invitational by a 46.5 point margin as the Cardinals totaled 162 points. University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point was second with 115.5 points and host school, Elmhurst, scored 72 points to finish third in the eight-team field.
 
Amaya Yoshizumi produced a 2-0 record at 110 pounds having faced the same opponent in both matches. She defeated Jackie Zuniga (MSOE) with a pin at the 1:25 mark before scoring a 12-0 technical fall in the rematch to win the weight class.
 
Layla Morris secured the win at 131 pounds with a 3-0 record on the day. She picked up back-to-back wins via 10-0 technical falls over Nyima Outlaw (Elmhurst) and Lexi Karls (UWSP) to start, and capped off the win with a 9-2 decision over teammate London Woods who finished second with a 2-1 effort on the day.
 
At 138 pounds, Lynn Horn received a bye in the quarterfinal and then battled teammates Taylor Miess and Milana Borrelli to claim first-place. Borelli took second after starting the day with two technical falls before falling to Horn in the first-place match in a 5-0 decision. Miess notched three pins but was defeated by Horn in the semifinal to close out the day in third with a 3-1 record.
 
Natalie Klavetter received a bye in the opening round before taking down Grace Johnson by way of a 10-0 technical fall in the 145 pound semifinal. She then pinned Lana Zimmerman of UW-Stevens Point in 2:44 to win the weight class.
 
A full day for Elizabeth Rosenstiel saw the freshman produced a 4-0 record at 160 pounds, winning the first three matches all via pins. She took down Taylor Schulz (UWSP) in 2:41, followed by Jalah Wilson (Lakeland) in 4:25, before using just 1:48 to down Lily Avalos (Elmhurst). Rosenstiel ultimately defeated Amerrah Kayon (UWSP) in an 8-0 decision in the first-place match.
 
Senior Lizzie Raleigh went undefeated at 180 pounds, recording three straight pins while wrestling for a total of five minutes and 33 seconds. Mallory Winner finished second at 180 pounds with her only loss of the day at the hands of Raleigh in the finals. Winner picked up an 11-0 technical fall and a 6-2 decision to earn a spot in the first-place match.
 
Dasia Yearby recorded three pins and a technical fall on her way to the 207 weight class title. She utilized quick pins in her first two bouts taking down Aubrey Miller-Ramirez (Lakeland) in just 23 seconds before pinning teammate Mackenzie Conklin in 36 seconds. Yearby then saw teammate Tirza TwoTeeth, where she delivered a 10-0 technical fall win, and followed it up with a 1:06 pin over Niyasia McCampbell (Lakeland).
 
Zurri Zamora posted a second-place finish at 103 pounds with a 2-1 record on the day while teammate Justine Perez finished third in the weight class.
 
Bella Bolek finished second in the 117 weight class after a 2-1 day. Her only loss came at the hands of an unattached wrestler, Morgan Turner, in the first-place bout, but she claimed a 43 second pin in the semifinals and added a 10-0 technical fall earlier in the day. Nadia Thomas placed third after recording a 3-1 record that featured three technical fall wins.
 
Gracie Guarino took second at 124 pounds after a 3-1 day. She recorded a pin, a decision, and a tech fall en route to a runner up finish. Tirza TwoTeeth rounded out the Cardinals top-three finishers after placing third at 207 pounds with a 2-2 record.
 
After a three-meet week, North Central will use the midweek to regroup before taking on the CCIW Championships next Sunday, Jan. 25 back at R.A. Faganel Hall.
