CHICAGO (Oct. 14, 2026) – Reese Anderson recorded her first career hat trick as the North Central College women's soccer team earned a 4-1 victory over North Park University Wednesday at the Holmgren Athletics Complex. The win extended the Cardinals' College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) unbeaten streak to five matches, including four consecutive victories, as North Central improved to 11-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play. The Vikings fell to 4-8-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the CCIW.

North Central struck early, capitalizing on a North Park throw-in in the fourth minute. Kara Waishwell sent a long ball upfield to Madison DeVriendt and Anderson as the pair broke past the Vikings' backline for a two-on-one opportunity against the goalkeeper. DeVriendt finished the play at the 3:29 mark to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.

The Vikings looked to respond with several early chances, but North Central goalkeeper Emma Megerle made a save in the 16th minute to keep North Park off the scoreboard.

The Cardinals doubled their lead in the 24th minute when Claire Georgees beat the Vikings' backline and found Anderson, who finished into the top of the net for her first goal of the match. North Park continued to apply pressure before halftime, recording six shots in the opening 45 minutes, but the Cardinals carried a 2-0 advantage into the break.

North Park got one back in the 54th minute, with a Viking midfielder chipping the ball upfield, pulling Megerle out of position as North Park finished it off to cut the Cardinals' lead to one.

North Central responded just over two minutes later. DeVriendt collected the ball and sent a shot toward goal before Anderson capitalized on the rebound to record her second goal of the afternoon at the 55:39 mark, restoring the Cardinals' two-goal cushion.

Anderson completed her hat trick in the 83rd minute, converting a penalty kick at 82:17 to secure the 4-1 victory. The goal marked her second successful penalty kick of the season and capped a three-goal performance in which she put all three of her shots on target.

The Cardinals finished with a 17-12 advantage in shots, including a 10-6 edge in shots on goal. North Central also held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Megerle recorded five saves in goal, while DeVriendt contributed a goal and an assist. Waishwell and Georgees each added an assist.

North Central is back on the road Saturday, Oct. 17 when the Cardinals head to Kenosha, Wis. for another CCIW contest against Carthage College.
