Hunt Notches Hat Trick in Loss to Centre

DANVILLE, Ky. (March 10, 2026) - Despite a three-goal performance from Wyatt Hunt, the North Central College men's lacrosse team fell to the Centre College Colonels, 15-6, on Tuesday evening.

Hunt notched his first hat trick of the season with Ben Kerkow putting away two adn Seth Rosen scored once. Kerkow and Rosen, along with Will Sanchez recorded an assist apiece. Jack Blaylock led the team with four ground balls, and Alex Porter tallied two caused turnovers. Beck Hagen and Matthew Cranston split time in goal, with Hagen tallying seven saves and Cranston securing nine. 

Centre notched the first goal of the game in the first five minutes. At the 7:38 mark, Hunt received the ball from Kerkow, making one move to score the Cardinals' first goal. The Colonels managed to put away two more goals before the opening period ended. 

With momentum still in favor of the Colonels, Centre grew to a 5-1 lead at the start of the second period. North Central broke up the Colonels' run as Hagen kicked off the series with a save. Chase Odom was heavily pressured but found a way to dish it off to an open Kerkow for another Cardinal goal.  

Centre scored once more to make it a 6-2 game, prompting head coach Brendan Kearney to call a timeout. The break helped the Cardinals regroup as Hunt scored his second goal of the contest. 

Five more shot attempts from North Central did not find the back of the net. Centre scored with 16 seconds left in the half as the Colenels held an 8-3 advantage heading into halftime.

Hunt opened the scoring in the second half, finding the back of the net with 11:19 on the clock. Centre responded with four straight goals to take a 12-5 lead, forcing a North Central timeout. Sanchez fed Rosen, ending the Colonels' run with a fourth-quarter goal. Centre tacked on three additional goals before Kerkow found the back of the net. The Colonels' held on for a 15-6 victory.

North Central will use the week to regroup and will return to Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on Wednesday, March 18, against DePauw University.
