NWCA Scholar All-Americans
MANHEIM, Pa. (March 20, 2026)- Following the conclusion of the NCAA Division III National Championships, held from March 13 to March 14, the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) released its NCAA Division III Scholar All-American awards list. A total of 473 student-athletes were recognized on the list across 105 colleges, including six for the North Central College men's wrestling team.
The Cardinals saw three freshmen, one junior and two seniors earn Scholar All-American honors.
The trio of freshmen to earn NWCA Scholar All-American honors are Matthew Maldonado, AJ Frescura and Will Erbeck.
Maldonado earned NWCA Scholar All-American honors as an exercise science major. Maldonado finished his freshman season with a 14-7 record, with three pinfalls and two technical falls. Frescura earned NWCA Scholar All-American honors as a biology major. Frescura concluded his freshman season with a 29-12 record while finishing as the 197-pound College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) runner-up. Frescura also became a 197-pound national qualifier after a second-place finish at regionals. Erbeck earned NWCA Scholar All-American honors as a finance major. Erbeck finished the 2025-26 season with a 21-13 record, placing fifth in the 285-pound division at the CCIW Championships and eighth at regionals.
The lone North Central junior to be honored as a Scholar All-American is Ethan Spacht, majoring in elementary education. Spacht finished his junior campaign with a 34-2 record, winning 16 matches by pinfall. He won the 133-pound CCIW Championship and was the 133-pound regional runner-up, allowing him to qualify for nationals. Spacht is now a three-time NWCA Scholar All-American.
Seniors Joshua Robison and Casey Aikman earned NWCA Scholar All-American honors. As a finance major, Robison finished the season with a 19-7 record while placing second in the 141-pound CCIW Championship. Robison became a national qualifier, placing third at regionals and is a two-time NWCA Scholar All-American. Aikman, now a two-time NWCA Scholar All-American, majors in exercise science. Aikman won the 184-pound CCIW Championship and became a national qualifier at 184 pounds after a second-place finish at regionals. He finished his senior season with a 27-12 record, with 10 wins coming by technical fall.
As a team, North Central finished the 2025-26 season in 13th place out of 68 teams at the NCAA Division III National Championships.
