NAPERVILLE, Ill. (March 31, 2026) – Henry Ros went a perfect 4-0 this past weekend, helping the North Central men's tennis team extend its winning streak to five matches and start 2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW). Ros was honored by the conference office this afternoon, being crowned as its most recent Player of the Week.
This marks the third time this season a Cardinal has been recognized by the conference as its player of the week, with Ros being the third different Cardinal to earn the distinction.
Ros' weekend began against the University of California, Santa Cruz on Saturday, helping the Cardinals to a 6-1 win over the Banana Slugs. In doubles, Ros and his partner, Andres Valverde Gonzalez, got a win at the top of the lineup 6-2. The duo had been playing in the number two doubles slot for most of the Spring before being moved up by coach Joey Leto in recent weeks. Since moving up to the number one spot, Ros and Valverde Gonzalez are 4-2. In the duals schedule, the pairing is 9-2.
Ros carried the momentum into his singles play, coasting to a 6-0, 6-2 win in the number two singles spot in coach Leto's lineup.
On Sunday, the Cardinals continued their CCIW slate, improving to 2-0 with a clean sweep of Millikin University 7-0 while not losing any of the nine matches played in the dual.
Ros and Valverde Gonzalez handled their business in doubles, winning 6-4, extending their doubles winning streak to three. In singles, Ros made quick work of his opponent, winning 6-1, 6-3.
During his perfect weekend, Ros did not lose a single set and dropped just 12 of his 48 games played. He has now won four consecutive singles matches and has gotten above .500 in singles play during duals this season with an 8-7 mark.
Ros and the Cardinals are back on the court this Friday, taking part in a split CCIW doubleheader, taking on Carroll University in the afternoon and Elmhurst University in the evening at Benet Academy.
