Apr. 21, 2026 - Taking on the top team in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, the North Central College baseball team dropped a league contest to Millikin University, 13-3, as an eight-run fifth inning broke the game open Tuesday night at Zimmerman Stadium.
Brian DuVall worked around an error in the first and followed with a 1-2-3 second before Parker Wyatt opened the scoring, driving a line-drive home run over the left-field fence for his eighth of the season.
DuVall posted another hitless inning in the third to keep North Central in front. Andre Medina and Caleb Smith singled to start the bottom half, and Yuhki Yamada moved both over with a sacrifice bunt. The Cardinals converted the opportunity as Luke Wallace lifted a sacrifice fly to score Medina for a 2-0 lead.
Millikin answered in the fifth, sending eight runs across on six hits, including two home runs, along with three walks and a hit batter as North Central used four pitchers in the inning. The Big Blue added four more in the sixth on four hits, an error and a walk to extend the margin to 12-2.
Ryan Huskey homered to right in the seventh, but Millikin added a run in the eighth and held the Cardinals scoreless in the bottom half to close out the 13-3 result.
DuVall threw four scoreless innings with two strikeouts and two hits allowed. Colby Gaither struck out three in the eighth to keep Millikin off the board. Huskey and Wallace each finished with two hits, while Huskey and Wyatt provided the home runs.
North Central steps out of CCIW play for three straight games, beginning Wednesday with a 3 p.m. first pitch at Concordia University Chicago's Cougar Field.
