2026 CSC Cross Country/Track & Field Academic All-America Selections

July 14, 2026 - For the first time in his career, North Central College men's cross country and track and field student-athlete BJ Sorg has earned the highest national recognition for combined achievement in the classroom and in competition by being named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-America selection, the organization announced Tuesday.

Nominees must hold at least sophomore athletic and academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50, and finish in the top 50 at their regional cross country championship or be ranked in the top 50 in an individual track and field event indoors or outdoors.

Sorg was one of 33 Academic All-America honorees across all divisions with a perfect 4.0 GPA. The 45 NCAA Division III selections averaged a 3.86.

An environmental studies major from Plainfield, Sorg earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-American honors in March with an 11th-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships. He placed 30th in the fall to secure All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships. At the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, Sorg finished 12th in the 10,000-meter run to earn his first All-American accolade.

Academically, Sorg is a six-time College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Elite 26 Award recipient between cross country and track and field, presented to the student-athlete with the top grade-point average who earns First Team All-CCIW honors. He also won the CCIW Jack Swartz Award in 2025 and is a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree.

Sorg is the 24th CSC Academic All-America selection from the Cardinals' cross country and track and field programs and the 73rd in North Central history.
