Sept. 16, 2026 - In the first in-season edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III rankings, the North Central College men's cross country team moves to No. 15, the organization announced Wednesday.
The Cardinals opened the season at home, hosting the NCCXC Invitational. The weather-shortened course was led by BJ Sorg, who finished the three-mile race in 14:27.9. Daniel Kasperan (14:36.5) and Richard Klein (15:00.1) secured second and third place, respectively, as North Central scored a perfect team score of 15.
Nationally, Johns Hopkins University leads the poll, with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, New York University, Wartburg College and SUNY-Geneseo rounding out the top five. In the Midwest Region, Wartburg comes in at No. 1, with the University of Chicago and Washington University in St. Louis edging out the Cardinals and Central College in fifth place.
North Central is back in action Saturday, competing at the John McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. The race is set to begin at 9:15 a.m. (ET) at LaVern Gibson Championship Course. The Cardinals took third place at this race in 2024.
