WHEATON, Ill. (Sept. 23, 2026) - Kate Herlihy posted a perfect 2-0 mark for the North Central College women's tennis team in a 6-1 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin loss at Wheaton College on Wednesday.
North Central (1-2, 1-2 CCIW) dropped the doubles point after the teams of Meghan McSweeney and Anais Gerard and Alexandra Zaskowsky and Abby Heintz lost their matches 6-1 and 6-2, respectively.
The duo of Berkley Klarich and Kate Herlihy grabbed a win from the number one doubles slot, however, defeating their opponent 6-2.
Wheaton (4-0, 3-0) went 5-1 in singles play, winning in all by the number two spot of the singles lineup.
Herlihy earned the lone point of the dual for the Cardinals in a three set thriller. She fell in the opening set of her contest 6-0, but battled back to win the second set 7-5, going on to win the tiebreaker and the point.
Klarich fell 6-2, 6-3 in her match in the number one singles slot, while McSweeney lost in the number three match 6-3, 6-2.
Gerard came up short in the number four match (6-4, 6-1), as did Zaskowski in the number five match (6-3, 6-2) and Heintz (6-0, 6-0).
The Cardinals now move their focus to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Region Championships at Kalamazoo College, which run from Friday to Sunday.
