Sept. 24, 2026 – The North Central College men's cross country team has idled at No. 15 in the Week 2 installment of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national rankings. The Cardinals recently capped off a two-meet weekend at the and the Gil Dodds Invitational and the John McNichols Invitational.
 
North Central turned in a second-place team finish at the Gil Dodds Invitational with 86 points behind then-sixth ranked University of Chicago. Ari Elmayan led the way for the Cardinals finishing sixth overall in a time of 25:21.8. Over in Terre Haute, Ind., the Cardinals finished 26th overall in the Division I John McNichols Invitational, and finished second among Division III teams, behind No. 13 Washington University in St. Louis, which finished 25th overall. BJ Sorg was the top Cardinal finisher in 105th place, in a time of 25:02.0.
 
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse made the jump into the top spot in the Week 2 national rankings as Johns Hopkins University slips to No. 2. New York University maintained its No. 3 ranking while SUNY Geneseo and Wartburg College tied for fourth.
 
The Midwest regional standings were unchanged since Week 1 as Wartburg maintains the No. 1 slot, followed by University of Chicago, WashU, North Central, and Central College, respectively.
 
North Central will take a brief hiatus from competition and will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 3 as the program splits up for the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky. and the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational in Rock Island, Ill.
