Sept. 8, 2026 - For the fifth time in his career, North Central College student-athlete BJ Sorg earned a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Cross Country Runner of the Week award, following his first-place finish at the NCCXC Invite Friday evening.

Sorg beat the field by nearly 10 seconds, posting a three-mile time of 14:37.9. He was one of just two runners at St. James Farm to average under a five-minute mile. Sorg went wire-to-wire to win the race, leading at the two-mile marker as well. 

The Plainfield native is a three-time U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region and First Team All-CCIW finisher. Last season, Sorg earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Cardinals are back at it Saturday. Sept. 19 at the John McNichols Invitational, hosted by Indiana State University. The event is set for 9:15 a.m. (ET) at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
