Sept. 8, 2026 – North Central College women's soccer delivered a statement win Tuesday night, shutting out No. 17 Calvin University, 4-0, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
Jordan Lange added a historic milestone to the dominant performance, recording two assists to become the Cardinals' all-time career assists leader with 30. The Cardinals improve to 3-0 on the season, with all three victories coming against opponents ranked or receiving votes in the national rankings.
Both teams opened the first half trading shots, but neither could find the back of the net to break the stalemate. In the 29th minute, North Central earned a corner kick, where Jordan Lange attempted to get a shot off, but her effort was blocked. Lange stayed with the play, however, sending a cross to Sissi Loza, who executed a perfect rabona to score the Cardinals' first goal of the contest—and the first of her career in the Red and White.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into halftime and didn't let up in the second half. Three minutes in, Lange converted a penalty kick opportunity to go ahead 2-0, scoring her third goal in three games.
In the 56th minute, the duo of Lange and Loza connected once more. Lange took a hit and stood on the free kick, playing it directly into Loza for a header to the right side netting for a 3-0 advantage.
Under pressure from Reese Anderson, Calvin was unable to successfully clear the ball from the back line, allowing Anderson to win possession from behind and take it toward the goal. Anderson then cut to her left foot before firing a shot into the top corner of the net to extend the Cardinals' lead.
Fighting a substantial lead for the Cardinals, Calvin continued to play hard, but it was Carly Campbell locking down the backline with a few physical tackles, helping to hold the Knights to just six shots in the second half.
Calvin's closest scoring opportunity came in the final six minutes of play when they were awarded a free kick just outside the box. Standing three in a wall, the Cardinals made a clutch block to prevent the Knights' attack.
As a team, North Central outshot Calvin 19-10, with a 10-2 shots on goal difference. The Cardinals also led in corner kick opportunities 7-3, while the Knights led in saves 6-2.
Loza led the way for the Cardinals, scoring a career-high two goals in tonight's contest. Anderson notched her first goal of the season, while Lange has scored once in each of the Cardinals' three games this season. Lange contributed both assists for North Central tonight as she achieved a career milestone of 30 assists. Lily Mattison spent 82 minutes in goal and notched two saves while Emma Megerle came in to finish out the final seven minutes of play but did not see a shot on goal.
North Central returns to Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 13 for Senior Day. The Cardinals will host Centre College for the event with a 12 p.m. kickoff.
