Biography
2012: Ran 22.01 for 200 meters and 48.01 for 400 meters indoors. CCIW indoor champion in the 400 meter dash (48.69), Distance Medley Relay (10:12.07), and 4x400 relay (3:18.18). He finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.11. Won the individual national title at the Division III Indoor Championships in the 400 meter dash (48.01) and as a team Benton helped win the 4x400 relay national title (3:16.11).
2011: Ran 22.04 for 200 meters, 48.27 for 400 meters and 3:17.73 for 4x400-meter relay indoors. CCIW indoor champion at 200 and 400 meters. Placed second at Division III Indoor National Championships in 400 and qualified in 4x400 relay. Ran 21.70 for 200 meters outdoors. Established new North Central record in 400 with time of 46.84 in winning individual national title at Division III Outdoor Championships. Ran on school record-setting 4x400 relay team (3:10.66) at Drake Relays. Also competed in 4x200 relay at Drake Relays. Also competed in 4x400 relay at Outdoor National Championships, finishing third to earn additional All-America honors. CCIW Outdoor Champion in 400.
2010: Ran 22.56 for 200 meters and 48.53 for 400 meters. Won CCIW Indoor Championship in the 400. Finished second in the 400-meter dash and won a national championship as a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay team at at the Division III Indoor National Championships... Ran 21.58 for 200 meters and 48.14 for 400 meters outdoors... Provisionally qualified for the Division III National Championships in the 200 and 400... Automatically qualified for Division III Outdoor National Championships on the 4x400 meter relay team with third-fastest time in school history...
